About TerraVerdae:
TerraVerdae BioWorks Inc is developing an innovative bio-refinery platform for the conversion of CI feedstocks including "green" methanol and methane into high value sustainable bio-based products. Our capabilities and focus extend to development of next generation biodegradable materials and biobased chemicals as sustainable alternatives to fossil-derived plastics and industrial chemicals. Position Summary:
Molecular Biologist/Microbial Physiologist responsible for development and metabolic optimization of the production of biomaterials and biobased industrial chemicals.
The ideal candidate has strong technical aptitude, is highly motivated and energetic with excellent organizational and communication skills. The ability to analyze and develop creative solutions to challenging problems is essential.
The successful candidate will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team and will work closely with a broader global team including biology and biochemistry researchers, downstream biochemists and bioprocess engineers, and external collaborators and customers.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- Responsible for conducting directed research to develop and optimize metabolic pathways and cellular carbon flux to achieve improved bioprocess efficiencies and target end product specifications
- Design research methods and implement workflows/protocols for the optimized production of target products according to performance requirements utilizing the latest knowledge of microbial physiology, secondary metabolism and biosynthetic pathways
- Support engineering and chemistry development of bioprocesses and products
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other R&D teams, commercial, and manufacturing teams to ensure technology commercialization
- Develop and establish intellectual property through filing of patents and documenting trade secrets
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Ph.D. or MSc in Molecular Biology, Microbial Physiology and/or a related field with proven industrial experience
- Demonstrated background in biological lab practices including molecular biology and biochemistry techniques that include DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, expression library construction and functional screening
- Excellent technical aptitude, and proven experience in project management, organization, facilitation, problem solving, and quantitative analysis skills. Ability to plan projects effectively, set goals, manage several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Excellent presentation, communication and scientific documentation skills
- Highly motivated and energetic. Work well in team environment and possess the interpersonal and communication skills needed to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to prepare project reports, technical papers for publication and presentation, and draft proposals in response to RFPs, grants, etc, as well as understand and document heterogeneous data and communicate effectively
